Lucent/Bell Labs has put together a wireless enterprise initiative with the intent to educate various industries about wireless WAN data. The focus is to educate and create awareness around the technology and business benefits of 3G wireless WAN data. From the technical perspective Lucent presents the structure of 3G wireless data, application testing results (i.e various VPN support, SAP, PeopleSoft, etc), 802.11 roaming capabilities and the wireless WAN data roadmap. From the business perspective Lucent presents wireless case studies, enterprise primary research and three Bell Labs developed enterprise modeling tools. A significant portion of our initiative is a presentation explaining how Lucent internally approached 3G wireless given by Lucent CIO.

The session takes 1.5-2.0 hours depending on questions. This has proven to be a great opportunity to ask questions and understand WAN wireless data from the equipment manufacturer's views and Lucent's CIO's internal view. Lucent supplies multiple wireless service providers so, our initiative is focused on the technology and business benefits of the technology, as opposed to a particular service provider's capabilities or offer.

During the presentation 1XRTT wireless data connectivity from a laptop, various PDAs and a camera is demonstrated.

Please note that Lucent has stipulated that this session CANNOT be recorded for any reason.
